Day 10: October 2021

On the 10th day of deliciousness, a neighbor gave to me (well, for very cheap £), TOMATILLOS.

This may not seem like much to my fellow Americans, but these little nuggets are near impossible to find in the UK. In fact, in eight years, I’d never found them. Until October 2021.

I made three varieties of tomatillo salsa verde. A fresh one from a @fondanyc #robertosantibanez recipe, a boiled one from a @mexicoinmykitchen recipe, and a charred one from an #enriqueolvera @danielasotoinnes recipe. Each was incredible in its own way. And I still had tomatillos leftover!

I made @hendersontohome fish tortas (and the torta rolls too). I made nachos (with all the fixings, including @swaledalebutchers x @breddostacos sausage). I made pollo verde. I made mini empanadas with black beans and tomatillo salsa. I froze more salsa. And I even froze some tomatillos themselves (thanks for the tip @mexicoinmykitchen).

October never tasted so good. Or so spicy.🔥
