Day 9: September 2021
I spent a good chunk of September 2021 in Ukraine (YAY for travel! YAY for seeing my sis for the first time in two years! YAY for doing something sans husband and child for the first time in forever! NAY for omicron and travel right now — note to self and all: do what you can do when you can do it🥳), and I returned to London joyful and full. Very very full. And that meant the last thing I wanted to do was cook or eat. But, as husband says, “needs must.”
So I made so kombu dashi. And then I made some brown rice congee with the dashi. And then I made some furikake with the dregs from the dashi-making. And then I made some eggs. And boom: about as far from Ukraine as a flavor profile can go, but every bit just as delicious, and joyful and full-making.
